Deadly Shooting in Lexington: Three Dead, Including the Suspect, and Two Injured

LEXINGTON, Kentucky — A tragic shooting claimed the lives of three people, including two women and the suspect, this Saturday, around 11:30 a.m., following a vehicle stop by law enforcement on Versailles Road.

According to local authorities, the incident began when a license plate recognition system triggered an alert, leading officers to stop a suspect vehicle. The driver, identified as 47-year-old Guy House, then allegedly carjacked another vehicle and fled, pursued by law enforcement.

A Bloody Attack on Church Grounds

The chase ended at the 5800 block of Old Richmond Road, where the suspect opened fire on several people on the grounds of a church. Among the deceased were Christina Combs, 34, and Beverly Gumm, 72. The suspect, Guy House, was also killed.

Two men were injured in the incident. One is currently in critical condition, while the other is hospitalized in stable condition, said Lexington Police Chief Lawrence Weathers.


A Multi-Layered Investigation

Authorities confirmed that the incident did not originate at the airport, although it affected a portion of Terminal Drive. A police presence was quickly increased in the area to ensure the safety of residents and infrastructure.

Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman said the Department of Criminal Investigations was "ready to support the KSP (Kentucky State Police) and the Lexington Police Department with whatever they need in the coming days."
