Philadelphia, August 7, 2025 — Authorities have made an arrest in connection with the deadly mass shooting that occurred on July 7 in the Grays Ferry neighborhood of South Philadelphia. The incident claimed the lives of three young men and left a dozen others injured, including minors.
Suspect Arrested: Terrell Frazier, 22
The Philadelphia Police Department announced on Thursday that Terrell Frazier, 22, has been taken into custody. He is believed to be one of several shooters involved in what police described as a “cowardly and indiscriminate attack.” The arrest comes one month after the mass shooting, thanks in part to surveillance footage and cellphone video submitted by witnesses.
According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, Frazier is facing multiple charges and additional suspects may still be at large.
Victims Identified: Three Lives Lost
The shooting claimed the lives of Zahir Wylie, 23; Jason Reese, 19; and Azir Harris, 24. Twelve other individuals, including teenagers, were injured by gunfire during the chaotic scene. Some victims are reportedly still recovering from their wounds.
As reported by CBS News Philadelphia, the gunfire erupted shortly before 1 a.m. on the 1500 block of South Etting Street, where around 40 people had gathered.
Attack Details: Dozens of Shell Casings Found
Police recovered a large number of shell casings at the scene, confirming that multiple individuals fired weapons into the crowd. Surveillance cameras and mobile phone recordings helped investigators piece together the timeline and identify those involved.
WHYY News described the attack as a “shocking burst of violence” that shook the community and reignited concerns over rising gun crime in the city.
Community in Mourning and Demanding Justice
Residents of Grays Ferry are devastated. The community has called for increased security and more resources to address gun violence. Local officials have also pledged support for the victims' families and promised to pursue all individuals involved.
Fox 29 released new surveillance video showing multiple suspects at the scene, suggesting that the investigation is far from over.
